Wanted Men with Bottle 'Don't Let Mossley Morris Men Die'
The Good news is that despite our lack of numbers Mossley Morris Men haven't folded and are still dancing but we still need new recruits, we cannot attend many invitations due to numbers, but I'm glad to say that we will be dancing out this year, we are now practicing at the Stamford Arms, 815 Huddersfield Road, Carrbrook, Stalybridge SK15 3PY. Our next practice will take place on 3rd February 2026, and will then be every 2 weeks following, so 17 Feb,3rd March etc through to early December, start time 08.00 pm, however we usually start to arrive around 7.30 in time for the dancing to commence. The dancing side is an all male side, however we have female musicians, who play bass Drum and Accordion, we have a Fiddle player/drummer, melodeon, and mandolin player, as you can see the instruments are varied and we welcome any new players/dancers to come along and have a look, who knows you may enjoy it and decide to join the team. There is no cost to join, and our team kit is relatively cheap to buy, the costliest items being Clogs. the team has danced all over the UK, and also in Mossley's twin town of Hem, recent low numbers have prevented us from travelling too far, however we have managed to attend local(ish) events. Morris dancing can be great fun and a good form of exercise to keep you fit, its a great way of meeting people and making friends. We welcome everyone who would like to have a go, even younger people, however anyone under the age of 17 would need an adult to accompany them. if you require any further details you can contact us via the contact page on this site, or [email protected], or our Facebook page, a member of the team will contact you and answer any enquiries you may have. Thanks for visiting our site, looking forward to seeing you all
We also perform!!!! a well rehearsed annual Pace Egg play around the pubs of Mossley raising money for local charities, usually the Monday of the Easter bank holiday. You will see from the pictures, its a well managed affair BUT often leads to fluffed lines,Ad Libbing and total chaos but great fun for Actors? and spectators.
